St John's Choir at the Radlett Festival! - posted 6th Jun

St John's school choir will be appearing at the Radlett Festival in Phillimore Park on Sunday 11th June, singing at 2-3pm. The actual festival starts at midday, with a Fancy Dress Parade to which all children are invited, and ends at 5pm. Every child who participates will receive a small gift! The festival includes live music all day, a funfair, climbing wall, food stalls and all the usual stalls and games found in a village fair. Entry is £2.50 per adult, children free. Please do come along and support your school choir, and the local community. It should be a lovely afternoon!

Walk to School Week - posted 26th May

Last week the rain did not stop the wonderful walking to school. It has been great to see all the effort and lots of stickers being collected. The week ended with a visit from Buster, the walk to school mascot. He held a whole school assembly where he explained how walking keeps us healthy and then the children told Buster how walking had made them feel. We are happy to say that all the children enjoyed walking and it had made them feel happy and for some more energised.

Times Table-athon - posted 26th May

Our Times Table-athon this year has been a great success. All the children in Years 1 and 2 have taken part in the class written round and worked very well using methods learnt at school and at home. Class winners went head to head in front of all their peers in assembly. Prizes were awarded to:
1st Ana-Maria (Year 1)
2nd Amara (Year 2)
3rd Saul (Year 2)
4th Summer (Year 1)

Y2 British Schools Museum Trip - posted 5th May

The Victorian era was brought to life for Year 2 this week when they visited The British Schools Museum. One of our children ended up wearing the dunce’s hat for getting a question wrong. The children loved the trip and came back very excited. Please visit the Gallery for more photos of the day.

Science Week - posted 28th Apr

We have been very creative at school whilst enjoying our science week. Thank you for the parents who attended the science breakfast morning we hope that you all had fun. In the classrooms we have been experimenting with floating and sinking items. The week ended with a visit with Safari Pete who brought into school some very unusual animals. Nursery went on a Bear Hunt - posted 24th Mar

The nursery children went to watch a production of “We are going on a bear hunt” at the Radlett centre. They brought back some of the ideas to the classroom by making props and re-telling the story. Imagine the fun of going on a bear hunt through tall, wavy grass (SWISHY SWISHY!); swampy mud (SQUELCH SQUELCH!) – only to find a “real” bear waiting at the end of the trail !
